Care after oral surgery
-bleeding is there for 2 hours after surgery and it continues for 24 hours at the surgery site.
– To control bleeding keep biting on gauze/cotton for 40-45 minutes.
-Do not rinse your mouth, spit or drink through a straw for 24 hours.
-don’t do brush on the surgical site for 24 hours.
-avoid hot, spicy and hard crunchy food for 24-48 after surgery.
-no smoking, no alcoholic drinks and carbonated drinks for 7 days.
-pain after surgery is normal when the anaesthetic effect is gone.to relive this pain take the prescribed medications by your dentist.
-the soreness and discomfort may persist for 3-5 days at the surgical site after surgery.
-swelling may be there on surgical site for 5-7 days that’s normal to reduce the swelling apply an ice pack on the surgical site
-after 2-3 days gently rinse your mouth with salt in a glass of water.
-if sutures are placed then come back after 7 to 10 days for suture removal.
